The Award Scheme
The International Safety Awards scheme is devised to recognise and reward organisations that show a commitment to improving corporate health and safety.
Applicants are required to submit a completed information form providing our external adjudicants with:
- a number of key documents relating to health and safety in your organisation
- demonstration of board level commitment to health and safety, and
- details of significant health and safety advances in your organisation for the qualifying year.
The award is also acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive as a powerful motivator for achieving high safety standards, and enabling winning organisations to gain a range of benefits including:
- External endorsement of a consistent safety record, if successful year-after-year;
- Staff pride in achieving international recognition for their efforts; and
- Possible reductions in insurance premiums.
The Winners' Banquet
Every year, hundreds of British Safety Council member organisations achieve an International Safety Award, and every year the British Safety Council hosts a magnificent celebratory black tie banquet for the winners.
Banquet attendees are presented with their award before enjoying the evenings' entertainment. As 2008 will be the 50th banquet, we are planning to follow the four course meal with a thrilling line up of acts including fireworks and a magnificent cabaret. The banquet is the most stylish and spectacular safety awards ceremony in the UK and is regarded as the premier event for acknowledging commitment to improving health and safety performance.
The Banquet takes place this year on 16 May at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London. Winning organisations are contacted about the banquet in April.
